Bypassing or clearing
the cache on your web browser |
|
If you are experiencing difficulty seeing updates to the website, please try to
bypass the cache and reload the page. Sometimes, if this does not work,
you may need to completely clear the cache. Please see the instructions
below. Although it is not required by all web browsers, it is a good idea
to restart your web browser after clearing the cache.
Instructions for bypassing or clearing the cache on the
web browser:

Internet Explorer
To reload a page and bypass the cache:
Hold the Control key, and press
F5 or alternatively, hold the Control key, and click the Refresh
button on the toolbar.
To clear the cache:
Internet explorer 6.x
Click on 'Tools' and then 'Internet Options' and choose the 'General'
tab. In the 'Temporary Internet files' section, click 'Delete Files...'.
You will see a dialogue box asking if you want to delete just the temporary
files, or all offline content. Choose the option for all offline content
and click 'OK'.
Internet Explorer 7
Click on 'Tools' and then 'Internet Options' and choose the 'General'
tab. In the 'Browsing History' section, click 'Delete...'. Next to
'Temporary Internet files', click 'Delete Files...'. Click 'Close'
and then click 'OK' to exit.

Safari
To completely clear the cache:
From the 'Safari' menu, choose 'Empty
Cache...' or hold down the Option and Command keys and press
E.

Mozilla Firefox
To reload a page and bypass the cache:
Windows
Hold down the Control key, and
press F5; or hold down the Control key, and click the
Reload button on the navigation toolbar.
To completely clear the cache:
Windows
Firefox 2.0
From the 'Tools' menu, select 'Options'.
Click on 'Privacy' icon. Click 'Clear Now' in the Private Data
area. Click Ok.
Firefox 1.0
From the 'Tools', select 'Options'.
Click on 'Privacy' icon and click on Clear across from the 'Cache'
option. Click Ok.
Apple Mac
Firefox 1.5 for Mac OS
Click on 'Firefox', select 'Preferences'.
Click on the 'Privacy' icon. View the 'Cache' tab and click
on 'Clear Cache Now'. Firefox 2.x - Mac
Click on 'Firefox', select 'Preferences'.
Click on the 'Privacy' icon. Click on 'Clear Now' under the
Private Data section. Click on the red 'Close window'
button to return to browsing.

Netscape Navigator
To reload a page and bypass the cache:
Windows
Hold down the Control key, and press F5;
or alternatively, hold down the Control key, and click the Reload
button on the navigation toolbar.
To completely clear the cache:
Windows
Netscape Communicator / Navigator 4.x, 6.x
and 7.0
From the 'Edit' menu select 'Preferences',
click on 'Advanced', click 'Cache'. Select 'Clear Memory Cache',
confirm by clicking 'OK'.
Click on 'Clear Disk Cache', confirm by clicking 'OK'. On 'Preferences'
menu, click 'OK'.
Netscape Communicator / Navigator 7.1
From the 'Edit' menu select 'Preferences',
click on the triangle next to 'Advanced' to expand it, click 'Cache'.
Click on 'Clear Cache'. Click 'OK'.
Netscape Communicator / Navigator 8.0
From the 'Tools' menu select 'Options'.
Select 'Privacy' under 'Options' on the left side of the screen.
Next to 'Cache' click 'Clear' button.
Click 'OK'.
Apple Mac
Netscape 6.x or later for Mac OS and Mac
OS X
In Mac OS X, from the 'Netscape' menu,
select 'Preferences...' . In Mac OS 9.x or earlier, from the 'Edit'
menu, select 'Preferences...' . In the left panel of the 'Preferences'
dialog box, click the arrow to the left of 'Advanced'. Click 'Cache'.
Either click the 'Clear Cache' button, or click both the 'Clear Memory
Cache' and 'Clear Disk Cache' buttons. In the 'Preferences'
dialog box, click 'OK'.
Netscape Navigator 4.x for Mac OS
From the 'Edit' menu, select 'Preferences...'
. In the left panel of the 'Preferences' dialog box, click the arrow to
the left of 'Advanced'. Click 'Cache'. Click 'Clear Disk Cache
Now', then click 'OK'. Click 'OK' again.

Konqueror
To reload a page and bypass the cache:
Press 'F5'; or alternatively, click the 'Reload' button on the
toolbar.
To completely clear the cache:
From the 'Settings' menu, select 'Configure Konqueror'. Scroll
down to select the icon labeled 'Cache', and click the button labeled 'Clear
Cache'.

Opera
Opera does not appear to have an option to forcibly bypass the cache, so if a
normal refresh does not seem to work, please try to clear the cache.
To completely clear the cache:
From the 'Tools' menu, choose 'Preferences'. Expand the 'Advanced'
options and choose 'History'. Click the button called 'Empty now'.
Alternatively, you can clear the cache, history and cookies: from the 'Tools'
menu, choose 'Delete private data'. Click 'Details', make sure
that 'Delete entire cache' is selected, and then choose any other data
you want to remove.
